Crafty Pins Add Personality and Style

Great on hats, coats, bags and more

There are always fun ways to dress up your casual attire, pins are one of the best. Our newest pins have our signature mah jongg flair and feature at least one mah jongg bead.
Heading off to play mah jongg -- the real game with the clack, clack bam action -- glam up with the Blonde Mah Jongg Pin. It features a clever gal with flying tresses and beaded limbs. It has just enough sparkle and unlimited charm.
She is lightweight, about 5" inches long and features a mah jongg bead for her body. We have a limited selection available and no
two are alike.

The Gehazi Collections Red Dancer Pin is also a fun way to spice up an outfit. Also about 5" she looks like she is dancing on air and having a ball doing it. Her arms are an eclectic mix of glass beads and crystals.

Our Eclectic Collection has a diverse selection of non-theme creations including the Stunning Agate Pin with its colorful mix of pearls, glass, bone, crystals and more hand wire-wrapped on copper chain.

The Batik and Cowry Pin transcends seasons. It's great on a wool coat and spectacular or a summer dress or dangling from a straw hat. It features warm tones and the richness of Swarovski crystals.

Whether it is a pair of earrings, a bracelet or a pin such as these, the key is selecting something that's fun and fitting. For me, the key is whether it makes me smile while I'm wearing it.

The compliments, of course, are icing on the cake.

Stay tuned!

Oh My! Sassy Mah Jongg Maven Dolls

Meet the whimsical
new faces of
Gehazi Collections

We are getting a jump on spring with our inaugural series of Gehazi Collections Sassy Maven Mah Jongg Dolls.

Sassy Maven Ava
These whimsical ladies are leading us into fresh new designs in mah jongg accessories and art.

The gals are about 10" long and characterized by their painted faces, hand-sewn regalia and their enormous attitudes. Of course, each is adorned with at least one mah jongg tile in her design.

They are whimsical and ready for a little clack clack action.

Our first series features dolls in red and yellow, perfect for getting our minds off the dreary gray days of winter.

They have hair and painted faces that just make you smile. Each doll also has a small hook on the back so that it is ready to hang on a wall.

Sassy Maven Clarice
These lovely creatures have been designed and created exclusively for Gehazi Collections by our friends at One Sun Creations.

They expressions range from pouty to plucky and their hairdos may remind you of one of those gals at your last mahj tournament. The best part is that they are so individual.

We really like the idea that no one else will have a Sassy Maven exactly like the ones you add to your collection.

Take a moment and meet a few of them.

Sassy Maven Ava is a DIVA (did you notice we put that in upper case!). Just ask her, She'll tell you. She loves green dragons and wears four of them at her waist. Watch out if she shows up at the tournament because chances are she is going to cause some sort of comical ruckus.

Sassy Maven Evelyn
Sassy Maven Frances loves pearls and ribbons and she always seems make friends wherever she goes. Could it be the power of the four winds draped down her hips?

Sassy Maven Clarice is a big-hearted soul who cherishes friends and good times. She also has a penchant for shopping. She adores mah jongg, but if there is a sale at the shoe store, she just might be a little late to the tournament table.

Sassy Maven Evelyn is, well, she is a princess. She wears a chic fringe necklace and shows up for red dragons on her waist.

Sassy Maven Gracie isn't happy if all attention isn't on her. Maybe she was royalty in another life! She can be a little self-absorbed, but at heart she is the friend you can't live without.

Sassy Maven Frances
And, when we have shown them around, we've found that young girls like these for their own collections, and college students are taking them to campus to brighten their dorm rooms.

One customer told us that she was sending it as a gift to a longtime mahj friend who
needed a little cheer during a hospital stay.

We are thankful for the feedback.

Sassy Maven Gracie
Now, it's your turn to give one of these mahj gals a new home and allow these beauties to be a reminder of all the fun and friends that make the game and life so much fun.

Each comes  in her own gift box whether it's for you or a treat for your favorite real-life maven.

This is the first of our series, so count us on adding more.

Stay tuned!

Gehazi's New Look for Mah Jongg Jewelry

Bettye's Color-Burst Mah Jongg Bracelet

You don't have to play mah jongg to like the jewelry.

That should come as no surprise as the game is finding itself mentioned in articles published  in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and local publications all over the country.

And, even though there are many who love the clack, clack, clack of mah jongg tiles on a tournament table, there are also those are enthralled with the click, click, click of the game on their computer screens.

Recently, on Twitter, Facebook and in beading forums and chat rooms, I have received inquires about mah jongg accessories from folks who just like the Gehazi pairing colors and shapes with mah jongg tile beads.

That inspired me.

More inspiration came when Dave at Rings and Things tweeted recently, "My pick for a style I'd like to see more of in 2011 = mah-jongg jewelry like @'s

By the way, if you are a beader or crafter, Rings and Things is a great place to shop for an incredible array of items. Plus, there are forums, tips and techniques and a schedule of when the next Rings Bead Tour will visit a city near you! (Rings is one of my favorite shopping venues...can you tell?)
Ella's Color-Burst Mah Jongg Bracelet
So, even though I was working on several new mah jongg pieces, the recent interest in the themed jewelry got me moving a tad faster and with more enthusiasm.

Hence the new mah jongg bracelets that offer a hip, chic look that is fun whether you play the game or not!

Each bracelet is spectacular in its own way. And, even customers who don't have a clue about mah jongg are snatching up these enchanted pieces as soon as I can craft them.

Bettye's Color-Burst Mah Jongg Bracelet became an immediate favorite for me. The colors are lively and the shapes fit perfectly  with a spunky personality.

The bracelets feature gemstones, freshwater pearls, metals, bone beads, shells, glass beads and crystals. At the end of the adjustable chain is a dangle that can be worn at the front of the wrist or in the back.

The best part is that they are so much fun to make.

Anne's Color-Burst Mah Jongg Bracelet
I have a good feeling about this collection. It is so full of personality. And it's a look that blends with today's fashion of chains, charms and bold color.

My 13-year-old niece is already putting some aside a handful for gifts for her schoolmates, and a 50-plus-year-old customer has ordered several for her gal pals.

What a great way to start 2011.

What until they (and you) see what's next on my creative plate.

Meanwhile, take a look at our other new mah jongg bracelets.  And if this look isn't for you, don't worry, we have many other styles from classic freshwater pearl choker sets to rockin' ethnic pins and ensembles.
Don't forget the sale items.

As always, there is more to come,

Stay tuned...

Cascades of Pearls -- Funky and Full of Flavor

As a young girl, I understood that pearls would be for me, one day. Perhaps on prom night or a special church service or just sometime in the future when I wanted to show the world how grown up I had become. Only in recent years -- and as a very grown woman -- have I fallen in love with these treasures from the sea.

Give me those classic strands like those worn by Jackie O or Michelle Obama and the sophisticated appearance is unmistakable. But what I like most is pearls with a twist. I like them funky and full of flavor.

Recently, as I looked around the studio, it caught my attention that there was an overflow of pearls: iridescent ones, colored ones, even boring dull ones. I wanted to create something a bit different. And I think that is what I did. I mixed colors, textures and stones and artistically gave birth to pearl  sets with a twist.

The Gehazi Olive Pearl Choker Set  features pearls in a rich olive contrasted with larger creamy baubles. The centerpiece adds a contemporary twist that is delicate, yet distinguished.

The Gehazi Citrine and Pearls Necklace set pairs the gemstone with rich bronze pearls and a polished shell that makes it anything other than grandma's necklace set. I like the yellow and bronze together because of their richness. The dangling focal adds just the right touch of drama.

strands of pearls and glass beads in varying sizes and shapes. The necklace is lightweight and the layers adds interest and personality.

The Gehazi Savory Orange Necklace Set is another creation with freshwater pearls. The gemstone is orange Botswana agate and it pairs well with the rose and gold hues in the dyed pearls.

By far, the Gehazi Wrapped Pink and Green Necklace Set was the most fun to create. It's dyed howlite funky pink pearls, Swarovski and a silver. It's perky. It's artsy. And, it reminds me that pearl jewelry can be eclectic, fun and beautiful no matter how old I am.

Gehazi Gets Jazzy

 Mixing Music and Baubles

Gehazi Collections is a part sponsor of  the IMAtv (Independent Music Awards) Network's Episode 3 of Grooveable Feast featuring musician/host Richard Julian and Nu-African Jazz songstress, Somi for a banquet of intimate conversation and smoking performances. And yes, Somi is rocking a Gehazi bracelet during her fabulous performance in this episode.

Check it out on Grooveable Feast

Jazzy Inspirations Send Us Into Freestyle

While you're at it, take a gander at our new eclectic pins. They are jazzy and fun. They were inspired by the jazzy renderings of Somi, who sings with inspirations from traditional East African folk, Western Classical and Central African pop.

Her voice put us in freestyle mode and the result is a collection of abstract pieces that could just as easily be framed as used as home decor as they could be worn.

Eclectic Batik and Cowry Shell Pin
The bracelets feature Swarovski crystals, bone beads, glass, copper and silver. They are all different and all in stylings that make them artistic statements whether pinned to coats, jackets, purses, hats or scarves.

The Eclectic Batik and Cowry Shell Pin
It's a wrapped agate pin features cowry shells, bone beads, crystal and jade. Wear it on coats, scarves, jackets and more. The freestyle wrapping is just the right touch for this gorgeous agate. The look is ancient, yet contemporary.

Eclectic Artsy Cowry Shell Pin
The Eclectic Artsy Cowry Shell Pin is one of our favorites and is a real stand-out on coats and jackets, especially.

It's sturdy and dynamic.  Dyed, chunky howlite stone with a mix of crystals, bone and gemstones wrapped on copper chain for a stunning look. Great item  and not another one like it.

The cowry shell makes this pin different because of its size. Plus the vibrant colors are perky enough for all seasons.

The Eclectic Amber Swirl Pin
Well, it's just jazzy!! A real fashion statement with its diversity of texture color and styling. We love the cascading colors from glass beads, freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, gemstones and batik bone beads.

Eclectic Amber Swirl Pin

And, there is that big chunk of amber that makes a statement all by itself.

All original designs.  These are just a few from the new additions to our updated Eclectic Collection.

It's All About Color

I love color. And, the more I create jewelry, the more I realize that I love the mix of colors, textures and contrasts.

For some reason, I never took favor to polymer clay. But while shopping at my favorite bead spot, I ran across some funky twisted polymer clay beads and could not put them down.

Should I try a layered necklace? A bracelet? I couldn't decide. So I figured I'd try the beads on memory wire with black seed beads and a few crystals. The result turned out to be a really colorful and fun wrap bracelet that I just adore.

The beads take me back to the '60s where anything with flowers, twirls and eclectic colors was in vogue. Funny, the more things change, the more they stay the same. These days, it's all about color. And, that suits me just fine.

Maybe I'll make a necklace to match!

Peeper Keepers -- Mah Jongg Eyeglass Leashes

Whether you call them eyeglass chains, eyeglass holders or eyeglass leashes, these accessories are a stylish way to keep up with those glasses when they are not perched on your lovely face.

Our mah jongg eyeglass leashes are all handmade in our studios and feature gemstones, Czech glass, crystals and bone tiles with mah jongg symbols.

The Turquoise Delight Mah Jongg Eyeglass Leash  stands out with assorted Czech glass and mother of pearl. The colors are great together. Using seed beads help keep this accessory lightweight and the mah jongg theme keeps it fun.

The Muted Tones Mah Jongg Eyeglass Leash features hues of deep blue (almost black) with deep brownish red and white.

If you are a fan of blue, the Blue Marlin Mah Jongg Eyeglass Leash is great with all shades of blue and especially denim. The blue is accented with deep burgundy.

One of our most popular is the Red and Black Mah Jongg Eyeglass Leash with it's striking combination of red. black and bone.

Be sure to see our other selections and colors. These make great gifts for mah jongg mavens. And, we will happily include a free gift card and free gift packaging.

Our site also offers you the option of saving your selections on a Wish List to give your pals a hint of what you'd like or to remind yourself what you would like to purchase at another time.
